Privacy Policy

Beamli Scholars respects your family's privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why, where it goes, and your rights. The data controller is Matthew Downie, a sole proprietor based in Bali, Indonesia, contactable at hello@beamli.ai or WhatsApp +62 877 6543 4332.
What we collect
- Your child's first name, grade/level, curriculum, and subject.
- Photos of notes, worksheets or tests you upload.
- Free-text you provide about what your child is working on or finds difficult.
- Your contact details: name, WhatsApp number, and email.
- Quiz results your child generates in a guide (scores, by subject/topic).
- Payment is handled by Midtrans; we never see or store your card details.
Why we use it (and our legal basis)
Only to create your study guides, run the self-tests and progress view, manage your subscription, and contact you about your order. Our basis is your consent (given by you as the parent or guardian) and the performance of our service to you. We do not use your child's data for advertising or profiling, and we never sell it.
How photos are processed
Uploaded photos are used solely to build your guide. Identifying details on the page (your child's name, school, any ID) are automatically removed before the content is processed, and our AI providers are contractually set to not retain or train on the material. Photos are deleted within 48 hours of upload — kept only briefly so we can build the guide and remake it if you report a problem.
Who we share it with (sub-processors)
We don't sell your data. We use only the providers needed to run the service, each under a data-processing agreement: Supabase (database + photo storage), Vercel (app hosting), OpenRouter and its AI model providers (to generate the guide), Midtrans (payments), and Google (transactional email).
International transfer
Some of these providers process data outside Indonesia (for example, Supabase in Singapore; AI providers may be elsewhere). Where that happens, the transfer is covered by your consent and by contractual safeguards with each provider, and — for the learning materials — the data is de-identified and not retained as described above.
How long we keep it
Photos: deleted within 48 hours of upload. Generated guides and quiz results: kept while your account is active so you can revisit them. Account and contact details: kept while you're a subscriber and for any minimum period the law requires, then deleted.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your or your child's personal data, withdraw consent, or object to processing — just message us, and we'll action it. As the parent or guardian you can remove your child's materials at any time.
Children's data
Beamli Scholars is used by a parent or guardian on a child's behalf. We process a child's data only with the consenting adult's involvement, hold only what's needed to make the guides, and never use it for advertising or profiling.
Security & breaches
We protect your data with access controls and encryption in transit. If a breach affecting your personal data occurs, we will notify you and the relevant authority as required by law.
